Our story began at the best college in the history of the world, Auburn University! We both were in the school of Building Science as classmates in the same co-hort. We knew that this was a great decision because of the post-graduation hiring rates, but little did we know that this small detail of our college careers would lead to the start of the rest of our life together.
In college, we were nothing more than acquaintances. We had some mutual friends, so we would attend some of the same events, but we did not hang out on a regular basis.
When time came close to graduation, it seemed like every conversation with classmates revolved around, “where are you moving?” Even though we were not close friends, we had this same conversation and discovered that we would both be in Nashville. Libby was particularly excited because, as any of her close college friends know, she always thought Cam was “cute and fun” (obviously).
Shortly after graduation, we moved to Nashville to start our careers. Not much time passed before we were reaching out to see each other, and we started to build a little friend group. After spending so much time together and getting to know each other, it did not take long at all for us to realize that we liked one another a lot more than friends. We were both nervous to jump into anything because we did not want to alter the dynamic of our newfound friend group, but boy are we glad we went for it!
We spent the next couple of years having a blast together. From sporting events, traveling to places throughout the country, meeting each other’s families, and everything in between, our relationship grew quick and strong. It was apparent to each other, our friends, and our family that we were meant for each other.
Fast forward to April of 2025 – Cam planned the most thoughtful surprise proposal. Libby’s mom, Peppy, told her to show up to Butler’s Bend to take family graduation pictures for her sister, Grace. Cam was invited to join these pictures, but he had to “work” that day. That morning, Cam woke up and left at 6:00am to go to “work”, but little did Libby know, he was headed to Butler’s Bend to get ready to propose. Libby showed up to the farm, and the photographer insisted the first pictures be in the barn. As Libby rounded the corner, Cam had pictures, string lights, and flowers decorating the barn. From there, we blacked out and genuinely have no idea what we said, but we knew we were engaged!
Cam then surprised Libby with out of town friends and a surprise engagement party. We had so much fun celebrating with all of our friends and family; it was the perfect start to forever together.
The past couple years have been our absolute favorite yet. We are so grateful that we found each other and are so excited for the rest of our lives together.
